PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Two years after a former Gettysburg College student finally saw charges filed over her 2013 campus sexual assault, the man suspected of sending her a Facebook message that said, “ So I raped you,” remains on the run.Shannon Keeler, 28, and her attorneys question how Ian T. FTC accuses Amazon of deceiving customers with Prime subscription sign-up, cancellation

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit against Amazon on Wednesday that accuses it of tricking customers into enrolling in its Amazon Prime program and preventing them from canceling their subscriptions. The lawsuit alleges Amazon used manipulative, coercive or deceptive designs known as “dark patterns” to convince customers to sign up for a subscription, which automatically renews. The agency said Amazon also made the cancellation process complicated to stop customers from leaving, and leaders slowed down or rejected changes to the process that would have made it easier for customers — because doing so would hurt the company’s profits. “Amazon tricked and trapped people into recurring subscriptions without their consent, not only frustrating users but also costing them significant money,” FTC Chairwoman Lina Khan said in a release. “These manipulative tactics harm consumers and law-abiding businesses alike. 'Lab grown' chicken approved in US; could soon come to stores, restaurants

City of Kyle designates public library as cooling shelter

KYLE, Texas (KXAN) -- Because of ongoing, extreme heat conditions in Central Texas, the City of Kyle has designated its public library as a cooling shelter where residents can use air conditioning and get water. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect through 9 p.m. Wednesday for heat index values up to 118°. For two consecutive days, Camp Mabry’s heat index peaked at 116°. This ties the unofficial heat index record set in August 2016, according to the First Warning Weather team, and we’re on track to do it again Wednesday. 2 killed in plane crash north of Duluth

DULUTH — Two people were killed when a small vintage plane crashed in the Pequaywan Lake area north of Duluth on Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed.The two-seat 1946 Aeronca Champ went down near the 8300 block of Pequaywan Lake Road, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. Both occupants were men and their identities were being withheld pending notification of family, Lt. Todd Abernethy said.Abernethy reported that the plane’s beacon went off at 8:12 a.m., notifying authorities that it possibly went down. Prosecutors received a 24-hour extension Wednesday to decide what charges to file against the son of a former St. Paul state representative in a crash that killed five young women in Minneapolis.“The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is waiting for additional evidence, including toxicology testing results of the suspect’s blood, as we continue to review the investigation into the criminally-reckless driving conduct that led to a crash on June 16 that killed five young women,” spokesman Nick Kimball said in a Wednesday statement. They expect to file charges by noon Thursday.The driver, identified as Derrick John Thompson, remains jailed.
