After a fall just steps from his front door, former Bay Area radio journalist Mike Colgan has been paralyzed from the neck down. But four weeks after the accident, his son said Colgan is committed to reclaiming his life — no matter how long it takes.“He’s able to move the fingers on his right hand. He can raise his knee a little bit, and he has had some small movements on his left side,” said Colgan’s son, Kevin. “There is connection there – and there is movement.”Colgan, who spent more than 50 years reporting on news in the Bay Area, was approaching his retirement home in Goodyear, Ariz., when he tripped and broke his neck. A former Maryland political aide wanted on corruption charges died Monday in Tennessee after he was wounded during a confrontation with law enforcement.Roy McGrath was the former chief of staff to then-Gov. Larry Hogan.
