TORONTO — Luis Matos isn’t a Star Wars fan. The Giants rookie hasn’t seen the movies. But, he said, the most enjoyable part of his second day in the major leagues was riding all the attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the recently opened exhibit at Disneyland. Why’s that?Teammates Wilmer Flores and Thairo Estrada were right there by his side.“It meant a lot,” Matos said this week in Spanish. “I just happened to go because that’s where Thairo and Flores went. … It was the first day I was actually able to spend time with them. We had a great time.”At one point in their careers, Estrada and Flores were in the same place as Matos: precocious young Venezuelans, living far away from home, suddenly the new face in a major league clubhouse. So, when the Giants began planning a team trip to Disneyland on their off day last week in Los Angeles, they knew what to do.“I know how it is,” Estrada said in Spanish. “We deci...‘Tremendous project’ at San Luis Dam showing progress: Roadshow

Q: I was traveling with a friend recently from Gilroy to Santa Nella and we passed the full San Luis Reservoir on the trip. What a sight! There is a lot of construction going on near the face of the dam along Pacheco Pass. It must be a tremendous project, as there were trucks full of materials and a series of gravel, rock and dirt yards full of raw materials to be moved somewhere else, as well as trucks driving across the top of the dam. That was an area where you could see the Tule elk that have been able to make the dam and surrounding territory their home. I think they will move back into the hills and we might never see them again. Too bad.I hope you can find out what is going on.Alma Gay Rush, Morgan HillA: It’s a $1.2 billion project to rebuild the largest dam in Santa Clara County in order to reduce the risk of the dam failing in a major earthquake. The San Luis Dam now impounds up to 2 million acre-feet of water in the San Luis Reservoir, the largest offstream reservoir ...Mountain View: Brothers arrested in connection with October 2022 rock-throwing attack

MIAMI (AP) — A court appearance was postponed Tuesday for a Donald Trump valet who’s charged with helping the former president hide classified documents that the Justice Department wanted back.A lawyer for the valet, Walt Nauta, told a judge that Nauta had been unable to find a Florida-based attorney. He also said that Nauta was stuck in Newark, New Jersey, after his scheduled flight down to Florida for the arraignment sat on the tarmac for hours and then was canceled. The lawyer, Stanley Woodward, said Nauta expressed his apologies to the court for not being present.“Mr. Nauta takes very seriously the charges that he is facing,” he said.As a result, a federal magistrate judge, Edwin Torres, pushed Tuesday’s scheduled arraignment back until July 6.Nauta was charged earlier this month alongside Trump in a 38-count indictment filed by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith. Trump pleaded not guilty earlier this month to 37 counts related to the alleged mishandling of...Miami gravesite of 2 killed in New Year’s 2021 crash vandalized again

Grave concern once again for a South Florida family after a video captured an act of vandalism at the Miami cemetery on the gravesite of two people killed in West Miami-Dade on New Year’s in 2021.Last month, a similar cellphone video showed someone defacing a gravestone with a white spray instead of the black spray that was used in the previous act of vandalism.Ingrid Diaz, a sister of one of the victims, spoke with 7News about the recurring act of vandalism. “It happened again about two weeks ago,” said Diaz. “They did the same exact thing, posted up on social media, sending the video harassing all of the families, all of the friends, posting locations and everything. Now I am here because I need something to be done.” Moments later, the vandal is seen spray-painting the flowers, hammering the grave and a memorial honoring the victims. The person repeatedly kicked everything that was placed on the grave at the Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North Cemetery. ...Latest news
