There was a very special surprise for a special boy this holiday season. It was part of the annual Spread Joy toy drive that took place Saturday at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami.Bradley, a nonverbal child who can’t walk, received an SUV custom-built by CCC Miami. The boy’s parents, Vilma and Jose Migenis, said the small vehicle will improve his time outdoors.“It’s going to be really special. Our afternoon strolls in the stroller, sometimes he’s not very happy with it, so to have something that he can ride, wind in his face, it’s a different experience for the afternoons, and he’s really going to enjoy that,” said Vilma. The remote operated vehicle, designed to look like a Mercedes-Benz SUV, was custom-built to fit all of Bradley’s needs.Mostert, Tagovailoa lead Dolphins to a 30-0 victory over the Jets without Tyreek Hill

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Raheem Mostert scored two more touchdowns to set Miami’s single-season record with 20, Tua Tagovailoa threw for 224 yards and a score and the Dolphins shut out the New York Jets 30-0 on Sunday without star receiver Tyreek Hill.Mostert walked into the end zone untouched on a 2-yard run that put AFC East-leading Miami (10-4) ahead 7-0 and gave the ninth-year running back his 17th rushing touchdown of the season — one more than Ricky Williams, who set the record in 2002. The score was also Mostert’s 19th overall, which broke the team record of 18 set by Mark Clayton in 1984.Tagovailoa was 21 of 24 with an 87.5% completion percentage and a 60-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Waddle. He was replaced by Mike White with 8:32 remaining and the Dolphins up by 30.A week after Zach Wilson threw for over 300 yards against Houston, the Jets’ third-year quarterback’s day was cut short when he left late in the second quarter with a concussion. WASHINGTON — White House and Senate negotiators dug in Sunday laboring to reach a U.S. border security deal that would unlock President Joe Biden’s request for billions of dollars worth of military aid for Ukraine and other national security needs before senators leave town for the holiday recess. The Biden administration, which is becoming more deeply involved in the talks, is facing pressure from all sides over any deal. Negotiators had hoped to reach a framework by the weekend, but that’s highly unlikely. Republican leaders signaled that without bill text, an upcoming procedural would likely fail. The talks come as Donald Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner in 2024, delivered alarming anti-immigrant remarks about “blood” purity over the weekend, echoing Nazi slogans of World War II to cheers at a political rally.“They’re poisoning the blood of our country,” Trump said about the record numbers of immigrants coming to the U.S. wit...MSTCA Large School Classic: Natick dominates 600

FOXBORO — For a while, Bailey Zappe went throw to throw with Patrick Mahomes and held his own. The second-year Patriots quarterback was nearly perfect in the first half and likely would have gone into halftime with a lead if not for some ill-timed offensive penalties. But much like last week against the Steelers, Zappe’s hot start wouldn’t last.Zappe threw a backbreaking interception on his first throw of the second half, allowing Kansas City to seize control of what had previously been a neck and neck game. Things progressively got worse from there and the end result was yet another poor offensive effort.“Simply not good enough,” Zappe said after the game. “Starting out hot in the first half again like we did the previous week, came in here and made adjustments, understood what we wanted to attack, went out in the second half and threw an interception on the first play of the second half, which was terrible on my part. Take away that, you take away seve...Israel faces new calls for truce out of EU

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — Israel’s government faced calls for a cease-fire from some of its closest European allies on Sunday after a series of shootings, including the mistaken killing of three Israeli hostages, fueled global concerns about the conduct of the 10-week-old war in Gaza.Israeli protesters are urging their government to renew negotiations with Gaza’s Hamas rulers, whom Israel has vowed to destroy. Israel is also expected to face pressure to scale back major combat operations when U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin visits Monday. Washington is expressing growing unease with civilian casualties even as it provides vital military and diplomatic support. In Israel on Sunday, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna called for an “immediate truce” aimed at releasing more hostages, getting larger amounts of aid into Gaza and moving toward “the beginning of a political solution.”The foreign ministers of the U.K. and Germany, meanwhile, c...Latest news
