How Chick-fil-A was chosen for Thruway, despite being closed on Sundays CHITTENANGO, N.Y. (WSYR) — Currently, the Thruway Authority is in the process of rebuilding or upgrading all 27 travel plazas. A spokesperson from Applegreen, the company that operates the service areas, said that its goal was to offer variety across the Thruway system. "We wanted travelers to have a choice between two burger brands, two chicken brands, two coffee brands, and so forth," they said in a statement. "Chick-fil-A is only at 10 of the 27 new plazas, nine of which have at least one other major food brand and one coffee offering available."Applegreen said Chick-fil-A's popularity is another reason it was chosen. It's often ranked as a fan favorite. Other restaurants coming to the new travel plazas including Burger King, Shake Shack, Popeyes, Panda Express and Panera. Coffee chains include Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts.

Mushroom hunter discovers human remains in Pevely PEVELY, Mo. - An investigation is underway after a mushroom hunter discovered human remains in a wooded area of Pevely. The Pevely Police Department reports the hunter found the remains on Sunday evening near the 9000 block of Taylor Drive. Jefferson County authorities checked for evidence around the scene of the remains, which have since been transferred to the medical examiner's office. Florissant woman arrested in domestic shooting ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Florissant woman is in custody after being on the run for less than 24 hours for a domestic shooting.According to a spokesperson for the Florissant Police Department, the shooting occurred around 2:40 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Woodridge Lane.Officers responded to a shooting call and found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Gardner won’t be held in contempt, judge rules Investigators claim Olivia Ingleton shot the victim and fled before officers arrived.On Tuesday morning, police located and apprehended Ingleton without incident.The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Ingleton with first-degree domestic assault – serious physical injury, armed criminal action, and endangering the welfare of a child.Ingleton allegedly admitted to shooting the victim. Rare white killer whale calf spotted off Newport Beach Video captured on Monday showed a pod of orcas swimming off the Southern California coast, including a rare glimpse at a white killer whale calf.The footage of the orca pod was captured by Newport Coastal Adventure, which was tipped off to the pod's location around 10:30 a.m. by a Long Beach whale-watching company.The orcas were initially spotted over 45 miles from Newport Harbor, but crews with Newport Coastal Adventure decided to take all available boats out on a last-minute trip for a chance to see the killer whales, according to Captain Delaney Trowbridge.The 20 passengers went to the last known location of the orcas and were ultimately able to spot them. Woman robbed and shot in Oakland OAKLAND — A woman was robbed and shot Tuesday afternoon in the Ivy Hill area, police said.The woman, who was wounded in the upper torso, was reported to be in critical condition.The shooting happened about 12:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 1900 block of Park Boulevard, near a mixture of residences and businesses.Police said initial reports were that the woman was robbed by two men before one of them shot her. It was not immediately known what was taken from her or why she was shot.The suspects fled before police got to the scene.
