KIPP students clean park, meet pen pals on Kindness Day

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Some local students completed a community service project on Tuesday. More than 200 fourth graders from three KIPP Capital Region schools took part in Kindness Day.They cleaned up Krank Park in Albany and also decorated trash cans. Educators said students are passionate about the environment and are excited about being able to make a difference. "I think that the students themselves are the ones that came up with the idea," Managing Director Elementary Schools Samantha DeLuke said. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A tragic crash kills three women in north St. Louis County. The tragedy unfolded on New Halls Ferry Road near Seven Hills Drive; two of the victims were coworkers.A moving tribute of a dove was released to honor three women killed in the car crash. ST. LOUIS - St. Louis water officials are proposing a water bill rate increase in the city. FOX 2's partners at the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported that the increase would result in the largest hikes in city water bills in nearly three decades.When hair salon owner Lori Fowler of Cielo heard of proposed water bill increases, she knew what that could mean."We'll have to raise prices for clients, we will have to raise prices on the people who rent space here," Fowler said. "I have a tenant upstairs in an apartment; her rent will have to go up because we pay for her water." ST. LOUIS - A Breckenridge Hills man was sentenced Tuesday to four years in prison for a 2019 high-speed crash that claimed the life of a woman in his vehicle.According to a statement from the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office, Donnell Fisher, 33, was set to go on trial this week. However, he pleaded guilty last Friday to first-degree involuntary manslaughter.Fisher admitted that his wreckless driving caused the death of Rebecca Sanders of Alton, Illinois. Sanders was 29. A 37-year-old man from Fort Collins was rescued Sunday night from Rocky Mountain National Park after he fell while rock climbing.According to a news release, park rangers received word Sunday afternoon that the climber had been injured after a roughly 30-foot roped fall in a mixed route on Taylor Peak.
