DENVER (KDVR) -- The weather in Denver went from record-setting moisture to extreme heat on Monday, but some experienced something different.While some people were concerned about the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke, residents near Sloans Lake think they might have been in the middle of a microburst.One resident near Colfax and Sloans Lake told FOX31 that they were on their rooftop when there were tiny drops of rain, then some harder rain.It was a matter of minutes when suddenly the wind was tossing the outdoor furniture on their patio around."We went inside the rooftop door and five minutes later we were looking outside the door then WHOOSH--" the resident wrote, "the wind comes and tosses all of my patio furniture and cushions blown off."Some users on Reddit said they experienced something similar, and speculate that the wind event was a microburst.What is a microburst?According to the National Weather Service, a microburst is "a localized column of sinking air ...17-year-old boy injured and rushed to hospital after gunfire in Fort Lauderdale neighborhood

An alleged 17-year-old boy was shot and transported to the hospital after gunfire rang out at a Fort Lauderdale apartment complex.The Fort Lauderdale Police Department received both a call and alert right before 8 p.m. on Tuesday about shots fired at Everglades Heights Apartments on Northwest 22nd Street.“There were a lot of bullets being shot, it sounded like multiple gunshots,” said resident Brittany Perkins.Police are investigating several areas of the complex also impacted by bullets, such as neighbors’ cars.“Shot up my car, a nine millimeter went through my window and the car beside me had two bullet holes through their windows and a couple of other cars over there had a couple of bullet holes through their doors,” said Thomas Perkins, another resident of the complex. “It’s not the first shooting we’ve had in this area over here and frankly I’m getting tired of just living here, period.”FLPD officers and Crime Scene In...Officer gets hit by driver and suffers minor injuries during traffic stop

An officer suffered some minor injuries during a traffic stop as the driver hit the officer and ran away in the area of Northwest 10th Avenue and 39th Street.The driver of the vehicle opened his side door, hit the officer in the head, and took off, Tuesday evening. City of Miami Police and Fire Rescue units transported the officer to Jackson Memorial Hospital for evaluation.As of Tuesday, detectives are still investigating and the subject has not been caught. Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a bomb threat at the Miami Internation Airport, Concourse D, Gate 28 an American Airlines flight that was leaving for Boston.A security check was conducted and an adult male matched the subject of the description, who was detained, Tuesday evening. An investigation got underway in Hyde Park Tuesday night after a hit and run crash that sent one person to a hospital, Boston police said. Police said a call came in around 9:30 a.m. reporting a crash involving a pedestrian.Police said the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A large police presence was seen around Wood Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m., with authorities spotted searching the area. A local man on a mission to find his wife a new kidney has turned to public transit and the power of a public ad to save his wife’s life. Paul Savuto launched the “1 Kidney 4 Deb” campaign almost one year ago. Now, he and his wife, Deb, are hoping a series of ads will help find a kidney donor. Deb has a rare genetic disease called alport syndrome. Her kidneys began to fail in 2022 and, at the time, her husband stepped up, donating his kidney.“Not only has my husband saved my life once, I have him as an advocate,” Deb said. Now, though, the kidney Paul donated needs to be replaced. Deb said the lifespan for a living kidney is anywhere from 12 to 21 years. Sparkly makeup has sparked controversy in Newton as the Newton City Council weighs a proposal that would ban cosmetics made with plastic glitter. The proposal is part of an effort to protect the environment. Glitter is also not the only plastic product that could be on the chopping block. Speaking on Tuesday, those who love glitter shared their reactions. “I love glitter, I use glitter every day,” said Eden Cha.In addition to glitter, the proposal would ban helium balloons, floss sticks and some types of takeout food containers.
